Food is delicious
Nope no children IMO
Dropped by Hazel last night after a show at the guidance of a friend. Somewhat nondescript entrance belies the spacious ambience of the interior. Arrived just in time for night-time happy hour (what a great idea!) and ordered a variety of drinks and food -- all of it fantastically comfortable. From the 'pound of wings' to the dirty rice, mac&cheese, blackened tofu (amazing) and tasty cocktails from sazaracs to wonderful old fashioned varieties. The service was also extraordinary. Shout out to Zach. We'll be back.
Easily one of my favorite places in the city. My go-to is the kale salad w/ shrimp and chicken and a side of gumbo. The cocktail menu is great as well. I highly recommend the Vanilla Spiced Old Fashioned.
Not a bad place, but honestly, nothing to distinguish it from other places. It's not cheap enough to be a dive bar. Not fancy enough to be a boutique bar. The food is marginal - not horrible but don't set your sights too high. All in all, it's, well, fine. Lower your expectations and it'll be good.
Best place in San Francisco hands down. Fantastic hand crafted cocktails at a really reasonable price. If you don't order the lemon peper wings, you really missed out!
Great new addition to the mid Market area. Think sports bar meets Southern kitchen and you get the vibe. Service is friendly and you have the choice of sitting in the bar area with bar service, or the more secluded tables - don't worry, there's still a giant screen so you can watch the game. The food is great, typical tasty and artery-clogging Southern fare. With each large dish you get the choice of two sides which are also enormous. Connected to Mr Tipples jazz bar.
My date and I stumbled upon this spot by accident but immediate realized it was a gem. The atmosphere is upbeat and flavorful yet sophisticated. The service was phenomenal and friendly. And the food packed a whole punch. We got recommended the chicken and waffles, and yo...it was absolute fire. 10/10 dish in terms of taste and the presentation was fantastic as well. I honestly was shocked the food was so affordable!
Hazel is a cool sports bar that serves Southern food and cool cocktails. Their happy hour times were confusing, but I believe it's 4-7PM Tues-Fri, All Day Mon & Sat, 10PM-Close Every Day...?The food was really good - we got chicken & waffles, I got the gumbo, and their catfish is amazing.Service was really slow last time we went, although it wasn't busy, but maybe they are purposely going for the Southern style of service, which is nice and slow.
We came on a Tuesday night and were seated right away in a roomy booth. Ordered from their past 10 happy hour so drinks were reasonable. One of the few places mid-market that serves delicious food late night. Love the ambiance and feeling, will come again.
It was ok... I ordered the fried chicken meal, the pieces were small and a tad bit overcooked. It was happy hour and they didn't have apple crisp moonshine drink, which at 5pm opening (the time I got there). Baffled me
You come for the fried chicken and you stay for the people. One bartender in particular restored my faith in humanity. I was out with my lady friends and we were REALLY enjoying ourselves. So of course bar hopping was in order and before I could leave the neighboring bar the Hazel bartender stops me. I completely forgot that my purse was still hanging under the bar! Now that, was amazing. There’s basic human decency and etiquette really that has escaped some of us, tragically. But for this young man — not so much. So kudos to the folks that return lost things. Especially to the barkeep at Hazel with the black rimmed glasses.Take care of each other out there, it makes us all better.
This is our first visit to San Francisco and this restaurant was highly recommended to us while we were attending the Raiders football game as a place we must try. The ambiance, vibe, decor and staff was fabulous! The food was exceptional and drinks were awesome! They made me a believer in grits. I've never liked them. I ordered the oxtails and grits WOW! My husband ordered the blackened shrimp. We highly recommend and strongly encourage ALL to try Hazel Southern Bar and Kitchen! This was without a doubt the best food and overall dining experience of our SF vacation. We cant wait to come back!
Wonderful vibe for a Southern Food experience! Pool table, whiskey bar and attached jazz club. Food is good but to healthy to be on the great side. Guess low fat can mean lower flavor
Cool bar, large whiskey selection. Had the wings and they are amazing
Pretty decent cocktails and good bartenders! The bad? The bragarts who yell for everyone to be heard how much they earn ! The shallow conversations wouldnt be a bother if they spoke softly, but these people are YELLING!So, if you can stomach the inane drunkard obnoxiouness, then you'll love the rest! Also, the lame seating system needs an overhaul. We walked in, asked for a table, when clearly there were at least 8 open seats and were told "1 hour wait ". We went right to the bar and got 2 seats(,which was lucky I admit) and ordered food and drinks. We were in and out in roughly 25 minutes and then they call us for a table. Then, the hostess sees us from a distance and comes at us REAL passive agressively. It was honestly absurdly comical, the whole experience. For my, this bar reeks of pretention and for NO reason. Its a bar in a city overcrowded with bars. Nonetheless, the basics. Good food, sure. Good drinks, definitely. Worth the trouble? Not at all
Amazing Beignets. Do not miss!! They come with blackberry jam. You can request them to go easy on the sugar coat on the top so you can taste them better. The lemon tart was also a good dessert option. We also had the side of beans and garlic. The beans were fresh and crisp. Recommend for a great dinner!
Had the best time here! The parmesan garlic wings are YUMMY. Im hooked! ... the bartenders serve great drinks, well crafted and nice as can be ... Like Beignets? They have yummy beignets and peach cobbler too. The caramel sauce is OMG delicious too. Go here. Youll like it.
Strange mix of sports bar with southern trendy dining but it works. I kept is basic and went with the fried chicken. The shell was not the traditional flour but almost kinda panko breading. They included a drumstick and breast which was good but it’s too hard to get a chicken breast right without drying it out. Not complaining about it but it was a bit dry. Mac and cheese was good but those biscuits…
Great spot for small bites & drinks after work. Happy hour food menu is limited & they are so so. The buffalo sauce wings are good for $7. Great selection on cocktails for happy hour. Will come back for drinks but not food. Reasonable price with excellent service.
Great food and atmosphere. Aaron the host is amazing. Unfortunately, someone broke into my rental car that parked across the street by the BOA ATM and stole my luggage. I just would like a more secure parking area.
